Kadai Paneer Recipe – Dry Version | Indian Cottage Cheese with Bell Pepper

Colorful, Simple yet oh so delicious Kadai Paneer!

Kadai paneer, is one of the most popular restaurant served paneer dishes apart from Paneer Butter Masala/Paneer Makhani. Paneer lovers would love to order this in an Indian restaurant. It can be made dry or gravy. Today I’m sharing dry version. What is Kadai paneer? How it gets it’s name? Combination of paneer (Indian cottage cheese), bell pepper, onion, tomato, sauteed along with traditional Indian spices in ghee(clarified butter). Its gets its name kadai paneer as it is made in a kadai/kadhai/or cheena chatti. A kadhai is a thick, circular, and deep cooking utensil used in India and Pakistani cuisines. It’s very similar in shape to a chinese wok. Traditionally it is made out of cast iron, today stainless steel, copper and non stick pans are also available, but I personally prefer using iron ones. Yes, I have some cast iron beauties in my kitchen which I inherited that belonged to my great-grandmother.:) I love to cook in those traditional old cookware. How about you? Let’s now move to recipe. Do try this and let me know your feedback!
